Therapeutic Massage

At Ogden Massage for Pain Relief, Therapeutic Massage is a general term

which includes many different modalities and techniques to help clients achieve their desired results. In some places you may also hear Therapeutic Massage referred to as Clinical Massage, Targeted Massage or Results-Oriented Massage. Your Therapeutic Massage session will be customized to meet your needs and your goals. Many modalities may be used to help you achieve the results you are looking for, according to the training of your therapist. You can expect a traditional massage with oils. The purpose is for relaxation or pain relief.

Highly Trained Therapists

This means our therapists have agreed to a High Standard of Excellence by taking Continuing Education Classes every year. Each therapist tailors your sessions to meet your needs using any modality or technique they have in their ‘toolbox’ so you can see results! If your therapist feels you would benefit from seeing a different therapist, they will make the recommendation because each therapist has different styles and specializes in different techniques. You have the unique benefit of seeing several therapists without feeling like anyone will be offended. All therapists have been trained in Deep Tissue techniques.

What To Expect

Therapeutic Massage is usually based on Swedish Massage, utilizing oil or cream and beginning by warming the tissue. Effleurage (gliding), Petrissage (squeezing), Friction (pressure), Tapotement (tapping) and Vibration (small rhythmic movements) are Swedish Massage strokes that may be used.

Before beginning the session, the therapist will ask the client about their goals for the treatment and the symptoms they want addressed.  Afterward, the therapist will leave the room to allow some privacy. Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed and comfortably secure under a drape. Therapists are trained to use modest draping methods and only uncover parts of the body that are immediately receiving work.

Depending on the length of a session, a client can typically expect to receive a little work in all major areas of the body with some extra focus on a specific area of choice. Some clients even prefer for the duration of their session to be spent in only a couple areas of the body.

Length of Session

  • 60 min -Maintenance- The full body can be treated or one area of focus.
  • 75 min -Most Popular- Time for full body treatment and one area of extra focus.
  • 90 min -Extra Focus- Time for full body treatment and two areas of extra focus.
  • 120 min -This is a good choice if you have several areas that need extra attention.
