Expert Pediatric Massage in Ogden
How do teens, infants, and small children benefit from massage and bodywork?
Did you know that children benefit from massage and bodywork, just like adults?
There are a variety of challenges children deal with. Massage and Craniosacral Therapy can help!
Infants, Toddlers, Children, Teens
Infants (0-12 months) often need craniosacral therapy after birth to balance their nervous system. Sometimes a child is born with a tongue-tie that needs soft, gentle work to release the tissue. They may be struggling with colicky symptoms.
Toddlers (13 months - 2 yrs) often benefit from gentle craniosacral therapy to balance their nervous systems.
Young Children (3-12 yrs) often benefit from gentle massage to release tension and craniosacral therapy, which can help them deal with school and life stresses.
Teens (13-17 yrs) often benefit from gentle massage to release tight shoulders or injuries from sports and other extracurricular activities. Mixing in some craniosacral therapy helps calm the nervous system to deal with stress and aid in better sleep. (Book a Therapeutic Massage for muscle work or CST/Massage for reducing stress. What to Expect
Depending on your child’s tolerance for length of session, the primary-care provider may share the session with the child. The therapists are very flexible. You can bottle/breastfeed during the session. You may lie on the table with your child. We are here to meet your needs.
Plan to bring a favorite soothing item like a stuffed animal or favorite blanket - something that can be used to create an association of balance in the nervous system.

FAQs
-
Booked with an experienced therapist, you can bring your infant in immediately after birth. Feel free to lie on the table with your infant, bottle or breastfeeding when necessary. This does not impede the effectiveness of the session.
-
Bodywork for Children on our booking page will ensure you are paired with a therapist experienced in your child’s age group.
If your child is 13 or older, you can book a regular Therapeutic Massage for muscle work or a CST/Massage for reducing stress. -
Your therapist will remain flexible and communicate with you to collaborate how best to work with the time you have scheduled. It is often effective for both caregiver and child to receive some treatment during the session.
-
Absolutely! You can sit in the extra chair or you can hold your child, or even lie on the table with your child - whatever works best for both your needs.
-
Absolutely not.
Your child can lie down or sit in any position that is comfortable to them - and no amount of wiggling is ever a problem. -
Older children and teenagers may choose to remove some clothing if techniques are used for the purpose of releasing muscle tension or dealing with sports injuries.
If the purpose of the visit is to release tension in the nervous system, it is unnecessary to remove clothing. -
You can encourage your child’s body to associate the calming effects of the session with an item and/or essential oil. This association then can be used at home.
We recommend bringing your child’s favorite comfort item- a stuffed animal or a blankie. Something they hold on their way to sleep at night is a good choice.
If you use essential oils, it can be beneficial to create an association with the calming effect of the session to an essential oil that’s used at home, so bringing in your child’s favorite is a great idea.
Be sure your child isn’t hungry when you come in for your session, but avoid sugary or heavy, difficult-to-digest foods.
